Working Local – The People, The Trust, The Difference
There’s something special about working with small regional businesses.

For me, it’s not just about building pretty websites or setting up online stores – it’s about being part of a community, helping real people grow something they genuinely care about, and seeing the impact of my work up close.
Small town business, like here in Ingham, feels different. It’s personal. When I start working with a local business owner, I’m not dealing with a faceless company down the phone line or a long chain of decision-makers. I often get to sit down over a coffee, have a chat, and get to know the person (or people) behind it all. I get to hear how they started, what keeps them going, and what they’re hoping to achieve. That connection helps shape everything that follows.
Getting to know the owners is one of the best parts of the job for me. I learn their personality, their strengths, and sometimes even their worries about the online side of things. Not everyone feels confident with websites or digital marketing – and that’s completely okay. Being able to guide someone through that, in plain language, without jargon, is incredibly rewarding. I’m not just delivering a website – I’m helping build their confidence as well.
There’s a real sense of trust in regional communities too. Most of my work comes from word of mouth. Someone I’ve helped tells someone else, and before I know it, I’m working with another great local business. That trust means everything to me. When a business owner chooses to work with me, they’re putting their reputation – and often their livelihood – in my hands. It creates a partnership where we both genuinely want the same thing: a website that works.
Because of that trust, the relationships I build tend to be strong and long-lasting. I’m not just there for one project and gone. I become the person they call when they need help, have a question, or want to try something new. Over time, I feel like I become part of their team in a small but important way. Some of my customers have been with me for over 15 years!
Of course, working in regional areas comes with its challenges. Budgets can be tighter, time is often limited, and technology isn’t always straightforward for everyone. Internet speeds can be patchy (though much better than they used to be), new systems can feel overwhelming, and sometimes the digital world just doesn’t feel built for small operators.
But that’s where the real value comes in – working through those challenges together.
Instead of overcomplicating things, I try to focus on what will genuinely help. I find practical solutions, keep things simple, and build systems that people can actually use. There’s a shared sense of problem-solving. I never want to hand something over and walk away – I’m committed working alongside the business owner, step by step, until it all clicks.
And when it does click, it’s a great feeling.
I get to see the confidence grow. I hear that enquiries are coming in. I watch a business that might have been struggling with its online presence suddenly start to gain traction. Those wins feel shared, because they are.
More than anything, it comes back to community. Small regional businesses are the backbone of our towns. They support local events, employ locals, and keep the place ticking along. When I help one business, that impact flows further than I might expect.
Being able to play even a small role in that is something pretty special.
At the end of the day, working with small businesses in regional Queensland is about people. It’s about relationships, trust, and making a genuine difference. It’s friendly, it’s down-to-earth, and it’s incredibly rewarding.
And honestly, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be working.
